FAQs

When are invoices for fees sent out?

We produce the fees invoices at the end of each term, and they are sent out in the last week of the term by email.

The invoice is separated into two parts:

  1. The fees in advance for the following term, along with some optional termly payments in advance (such as Beacon Bursary Fund contribution).
  2. Any extras (such as School Transport or Breakfast Club charges) incurred during the term just ending, which are charged in arrears.

Is there an opportunity to spread the cost of school fees?

Yes, there is a School Fee Plan which enables parents to spread the cost of school fees rather than paying a lump sum each term. To apply, contact My School Fee Plan directly. To enquire further, please email [email protected]

Can I pay for fees in advance?

Unfortunately payment of fees in advance isn’t available for 2024-2025. However, following a review, our Advance Payment of Fees scheme may be reinstated in 2025-2026. Under this scheme, school fees may be paid for several years in advance in return for a discount. Should parents wish to find out more, there is further information available on the Parent Portal.

What is The Beacon Bursary Fund contribution?

This is made on a voluntary basis. The Beacon Bursary Fund is a registered charity set up and run independently of the school by six external trustees, with annually audited accounts.

Its purpose is to provide funding for the education of pupils at The Beacon whose parents/guardians run into temporary financial difficulties, and may otherwise have to withdraw their son from the school at a time that might be detrimental to his educational progress. This assistance is entirely separate from the Headmaster’s Bursary Fund which aims to broaden access to the school by offering means-tested financial support to bright and talented boys who, for financial reasons, would otherwise be unable to take up their place at The Beacon.

The Beacon Bursary Fund derives its income from parental donations, Gift Aid and investment income. The contribution rate is currently £29 and reviewed annually.

The contribution will automatically appear on your fee bill. If you are a UK taxpayer, The Beacon Bursary Fund can claim an additional 25p for every £1 you donate at no extra cost to you, providing you complete our Gift Aid Declaration so that your gifts can qualify.  If you do not wish to contribute to this fund, please exclude it from your payment and we will credit your account. It should not then appear on your future bills.

Is there an accident insurance scheme in place?

Yes, all pupils are automatically part of this scheme – there is no extra charge. It provides payment for permanent disabilities or death resulting from an accident, and covers all activities, both in and outside of school.
