A Trip to Les Orres

2 July 2024

On Saturday 29 June, our Year 8 boys arrived at school ready to go on their final adventure with The Beacon!

Following a long but comfortable coach and ferry journey to Southern France, excitement was palpable in the stunning surroundings of Les Orres, a farming village high up in Parc Des Ecrins which is now a stunning ski resort surrounded by mountains, built in the middle of the 20th century.

The boys were thrilled to participate in all the activities (the majority of which they have never done before) and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones. There were plenty of smiles and stories to retell from the high ropes course; Via Ferrata, a protected climbing route found in the Alps. White-water rafting was also a particular favourite.

The mountain hike next to a mountain stream, through a beautiful forest and alpine meadows up to a spring-fed lake will certainly leave lasting memories for the boys.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed visiting Lac de Serre-Ponçon and had lots of fun at the giant inflatable aqua park.

Thank you to all our staff members who attended the trip, and to our Year 8 boys for being so well behaved throughout the week.
