We are delighted to introduce, from an exceptional field of candidates, our Head Boy and Deputy Head Boys for 2021-2022. We know the boys will be wonderful representatives for The Beacon. Congratulations! Here are a few words from the team:
Hello, my name is George C and I will be your Head Boy for next year. My favourite hobby is rugby.
Hello my name is Felix B, I enjoy playing all sports especially cricket and look forward to being your deputy head boy.
Hello, my name is Edward B. I enjoy all sports including rugby, cricket and tennis and will thoroughly enjoy being the next deputy head boy.
We, as a team, look forward to working closely with the boys and teachers and will make sure we help around the School with whoever and whenever. We hope to bring new and exciting events throughout the whole of the School for our fellow peers to enjoy.
George C, Felix B and Edward B – The Head Boy Team
The selection process for the roles of Head Boy and Deputy Head Boys is long and thorough. There were many talented candidates and Mr Phelps wishes to thank all the boys who applied and remind boys that there are several other positions of responsibility for Year 8 including musical, sporting and others.
The Head Boy team have varied responsibilities but, fundamentally, their role is to help with the leadership of the School. We expect them to lead by example by setting high standards for themselves and to nurture The Beacon as we emerge from the pandemic. The team have regular meetings with Mr Phelps and are called upon to help in many different areas, from school assemblies to virtual tours of The Beacon! One important task is the Head Boy Team’s speech each year at the End of Year celebrations, requiring a combination of dignity, comedy and tact!
In the coming year, the team will have the important task of meeting and ‘training’ Mr Phelps’s successor in the ways of The Beacon. Mr Phelps looks forward to working with this strong team for 2021-22!
